~THE FLOWER~ There was a stirring in the ground, My seedling rose to look around. God put this fragile flower in my care; It had grace and beauty without compare. So I searched to find that perfect place, To keep my flower happy and safe. My flower was small, but it was straight... It was a marvelous thing for God to create. My little flower greeted me each day, Never wanting me to leave--it always begged me "stay". Soon this little flower was entwined within my heart, It needed me, though it was very smart. It was small and lovely, sweet and kind, Its gentle fragrance filled my mind. I taught my little flower to bask in bright sunlight, But always rest its petals in the cool of the night. As is life--my little flower grew, Sending out its roots through the midst of all it knew. Soon it held its head up high, and wide its petals spread, Telling me it had to go where its heart had led. But I had tried to keep my flower from all thistles and all weeds, Now they just kept scattering more and more seeds. Frustration sent me to the Lord, where I entrusted my fragile flower... I knew that everything on Earth is held within His power. As arkness rose up to cover all the light Plump raindrops started falling in the coolness of the night. Storm clouds had been gathering in the western sky, Soon the floods were swelling outward and came raging by. I felt helpless--my heart was torn, My strength within was terribly worn. Still, I had entrusted my flower to my God above, I knew He held my flower with His undying Love. As the clouds parted and slowly rolled away, The night was beginning to turn into day. I looked for my little flower--the one that I love... I saw it looking down on me--from Heaven up above. God had kept my precious flower safe from all harm, He picked it up--out of the storm and placed it in His arms. Even though I cannot touch nor hold my flower today...
